Our Journey started back in March 2018 , when we Developed an Published the Local is Lekker mobile App , which did extremely well, and was very popular with many locals and local businesses alike.
When Lockdown happened in 2020 , two very distinctive things took place:
The Highlights:
Being the first in South Africa (from what we could see online) to offer delivery of household essentials & groceries via the App in collaboration with a Local Food distribution company, weirdly seemed like what the App was intended for.

We hosted the very first drive through Basaar for Philadelphia NG Kerk - which has been going for over 150 years, we were truly honored to have been asked to do it, and it was a massive success.
We collaborated with various organisations, one being the Veterans Cricket Associations of South Africa to offer Hampers to the disadvantaged communities , that locals could buy an donate.

It was a remarkably humbling experience, at the same time inspiring to see Locals helping each other through this very challenging period.
The Downside:
Around 60% of our small businesses closed their doors, which is a staggering number, and I don't really have the words to contextualise that, it was just very sad to witness.
